Projects

I've worn web-related hats that run the gamut from design to project management, but writing code that runs intelligent applications and makes beautiful design come alive (and teaching others to do the same) is what I enjoy most.

Working for Razorfish

Working for Orbitz Worldwide

A family of websites as large as Orbitz Worldwide's requires a large number of developers for maintenance and new feature implementation. The UI Engineering/JSP team (mine) had 21 members in April 2008.

A team that large really lets people develop their strengths and improve their weaker areas — nearly every topic is someone's expertise/passion. Attending brown bags, presentations, and code reviews helped me learn best practices for Object-oriented JavaScript and accessibility, and leading the same let me teach others about CSS intricacies and markup semantics.

Working for the University of Chicago

The University of Chicago's Web Services department had a very client-focused approach since the departments, organizations, and schools who used us did so by choice (often considering us along with outside providers).

Site developers (of which I was one) gathered requirements, prepared storyboard/IA documents, created and proposed design options, and developed and maintained University sites.

My own projects

It's very fulfilling to see an entire website grow out of the initial idea for one. For the above sites, I was the only technologist involved and worked with my clients to define their goals and build a site that achieved them.
